Currently in the final year of his two-year, $45 million contract, Brown won an NBA championship with the Denver Nuggets in 2023. As Council formally opposes Promenade sign, its owner threatens legal action
The City Council has again denounced a sign on the Third Street Promenade that criticizes local leaders over drug use and crime in the city. Property owner John Alle has installed a series of banners on his storefront over the past two years. The banners have consistently blamed drug use for problems in the city but have increasingly targeted specific individuals including the City Manager and Councilmembers over a needle distribution program operated by the County’s health department.

Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Ford Flex in Lancaster
A woman who was crossing an intersection was struck and killed by a vehicle in Lancaster, authorities said Saturday. Traffic investigators from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station were called to the intersection of Elm Avenue and Avenue J around 8:09 p.m. Friday where they learned a man driving a Ford Flex SUV east on Avenue J hit the pedestrian, who was walking north to south on Avenue J, said Det. Jorge Diaz.

A trailer fire that broke out on Friday afternoon left commuters in traffic on the 24000 block of West Copper Hill Drive in Valencia. Firefighters with the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived on the scene of a fully engulfed truck at 1:13 p.m. after receiving reports of it a few minutes earlier, said Geovanni Sanchez, a spokesman with the agency.
