Michigan football about to ‘get hot’ on the recruiting trail
Momentum in recruiting can be a very fluid thing. One minute you have it — another you don’t. Well, after losing it momentarily, Michigan football has it back. The Wolverines are trending for the commitment of four-star tight end Andrew Olesh who will announce his school of choice on Monday. All signs point to Michigan football being the choice among a final four of U-M, Alabama, Florida, and Penn State.

(WKHM, Greg O’Connor) — According to Blackman Public Safety, there was a fatal stabbing early this morning in the 3000 block of East Michigan Ave. The incident was described as domestic-related by investigators. Blackman Public Safety, Jackson Police Department, and Michigan State Police were all searching the area for a suspect.

Mason community gives back to local heroes in ‘Burgers and Bounce’ fundraiser
MASON, Mich. (WILX)—On Sunday, the Mason community held a ‘Burgers and Bounce’ fundraiser to help raise funds for local heroes. People who attended the event at New Wine Church could eat some hamburgers, relax, and hang out with the community. Visitors donated with local things from around the community or by donating money.
U-M researchers to collaborate with Los Alamos National Laboratory
A $15 million award from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Los Alamos National Laboratory will allow a team of University of Michigan faculty and students to collaborate with the laboratory in computational science research over the next five years. The LANL is one of 17 national laboratories overseen by the Department of Energy. It focuses on national security science, technology and engineering research.
New Jackson College Jets Air Station Opening Today
(July 8, 2024 7:33 AM ET) Jackson College will open the new Jets Air Station to college and community members today. After months of anticipation, the finishing touches have been made, and the Jets Air Station is ready to welcome guests. The hours will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays & Sundays (hours may change based on usage). This brand-new inflatable air dome provides more space for college athletics, student and community workouts, and public events. Inside, the Air Station features a rubberized floor with four basketball courts, four volleyball courts, six pickleball courts, and two tennis courts. A marked walking track surrounds the perimeter of the athletic courts. The starting setup includes one tennis court, a volleyball court, a basketball court, and a pickleball court, which may change based on usage.

The hours will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays & Sundays (hours may change based on usage). This brand-new inflatable air dome provides more space for college athletics, student and community workouts, and public events. Inside, the Air Station features a rubberized floor with four basketball courts, four volleyball courts, six pickleball courts, and two tennis courts. A marked walking track surrounds the perimeter of the athletic courts. The starting setup includes one tennis court, a volleyball court, a basketball court, and a pickleball court, which may change based on usage. To meet visitors’ needs, there are restrooms, a greeters’ station, bag/shoe storage, a lounge/seating area and vending machines. Guests may check out tennis rackets and balls, volleyballs, pickleball paddles and balls and basketballs. All users must sign in on arrival, every time. Usage of the Jet Air Station will be free over the summer; memberships will be offered for the fall semester, with information to come.

The Manchester Community Fair Queen contestants have been announced. The Fair Parade route has also been established, which will kick off the fair on Tuesday, August 6, at 6:30pm. The route has been reversed and more information will be available soon. In addition, there will be prize money awarded for floats, golf carts, and bikes that are decorated with the parade theme.
