THOMASVILLE — As their inaugural season approaches, the newly formed Thomas County Central flag football team hosted a scrimmage against fellow first-year program Fitzgerald. DALTON, Ga. — Former Georgia Senator and Dalton native Dr. Don Thomas has passed away at the age of 91. Thomas' obituary says he passed away after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. According to the obituary, Thomas was a family practice physician in Dalton for 58 years.

The Peach State earned a score of 39.9%, ranking it just ahead of Nevada and just behind Idaho, according to the third annual "Religious Liberty in the States" from the Center for Religion, Culture & Democracy, an initiative of First Liberty Institute. The index explores legislation in all 50 states and how it protects religious liberty.
