Man charged in fatal stabbing sent for mental evaluation
JACKSON COUNTY, MI – A man accused of stabbing a man to death will not be soon be in court again. Jackson County District Judge Michael Klaeren signed an order Thursday, July 11, referring Richard Clark Brewer to the state-run Center for Forensic Psychiatry for a mental competency evaluation to determine if he is fit to stand trial, court records show.

VIDEO: Kitten rescued after getting stuck in muffler
HOWELL, Mich, (WKRC/CBS Newspath/Storyful) - A fire department rescued a kitten that had its head stuck in a muffler after the critter was brought to the station. The Howell Area Fire Department released the footage and said it was, “happy to be of assistance,” on Wednesday. Video showed the crew working carefully to remove the muffler from the kitten’s head.

In a Tuesday, July 16 meeting, the Blackman Township Planning Commission voted 4-0 that the township’s Board of Trustees reject a conditional use permit from Country Boots & Bands to build the music venue at 2400 W.
