Don Childers, businessman and civic leader, dies at 92
A celebration of the life of longtime Whitesburg businessman William Donald Childers will be held Monday, July 8, at the First Baptist Church in Whitesburg. Mr. Childers, who turned a small Gulf Oil company “bulk plant” into a company that now owns more than 40 convenience stores in eastern Kentucky and southwest Virginia, died June 29 at his home in Whitesburg after a short illness. He was 92.
