Levy County, FL - A 13-year-old boy died early Monday morning after a tree fell onto his family’s Levy County mobile home during the onslaught from Hurricane Debby.

Levy County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene around 8 a.m. after receiving reports of a downed tree at a residence on NW 168 Place.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered the teen had succumbed to his injuries.

A spokesperson for the Levy County Sheriff’s Office released a statement regarding the teen's death, stating "Our hearts go out to the family during this unimaginable time. As our community begins the recovery process, we urge everyone to prioritize safety. Downed power lines and falling trees remain significant hazards. Please exercise extreme caution.”

There were no other reported injuries.

Hurricane Debby made landfall in the Big Bend region of Florida on Monday morning and has since been downgraded to a tropical storm.
