Anonymous tip leads to arrest of suspected drug dealer
WILLISTON — An anonymous tip recently helped the Levy County Sheriff’s Office put a suspected drug dealer behind bars. According to an LCSO news release, the LCSO Drug Task Force received an anonymous tip earlier this year identifying a person in a travel trailer at “Out of Towner’s” RV Park in Williston who was selling drugs.

Bay scallop season returns
The 2024 recreational bay scallop season in the Fenholloway-Suwannee River Zone is open through Labor Day, Sept. 2. This includes all state waters in Dixie County, a portion of Taylor County including the towns of Keaton Beach and Steinhatchee, and a portion of Levy County, according to a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) news release.
Labor force, employment and jobless numbers down across region
The jobless rate in the CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion region was 3.8% in May, down 0.4 percentage point over the month and 0.3 percentage point greater than the region’s year ago rate of 3.5%. The labor force was 217,695, down 1,570 (-0.7%) over the year. There were 8,370 unemployed residents in the region, a drop pf 825 compared to April and up 652 over the year.
