Lewisburg, Pa. — Construction is moving along on a new Wawa convenience store and gas station on Route 15 in Kelly Township.

All approvals have been completed by Wawa and they are moving along with site prep work, according to an email from David Hassenplug, chairman of the Kelly Township Board of Supervisors. Although there is nothing being constructed aboveground yet, there is ongoing prep work for a turning lane along Route 15 southbound that will give access to the Wawa property, Hassenplug added.

The store will be located at the intersection of Route 15 and Zeigler Road at the site of the former Just Lite It fireworks store. The fireworks store closed last July after it was damaged by a tornado. Plans had already been in the works to relocate the store, which moved to a lot farther back on Zeigler Road.

Alyson Mucha, spokesperson for Wawa, said the Lewisburg store is expected to open in the first quarter of 2025. "As a family and associate-owned company, we couldn’t be more excited to bring Wawa’s one-of-a-kind brand and offering to this market in the near future," Mucha said in an email.

Just 22 miles down the road in Williamsport, ground work also has begun on a Wawa store on Maynard Street. As of this month, Wawa is still in the process of finalizing building permits and other permits needed to move forward. The Wawa store at the 100 block will be in close proxmity to more than 4,000 students at the Penn College campus. The store will be part of Maynard Commons, a 2.67 acre parcel that also will house a Chick-fil-A restaurant that is expected to open in December. The Wawa store is expected to open sometime in 2025.

The stores in Union and Lycoming counties are part of Wawa's expansion plans for central Pennsylvania. The chain, which is headquartered in Delaware County, is planning several stores in the region including at least two stores in Centre County and one in Danville.
