LEWISBURG- Former Woodrow Wilson, Marshall, and NBA star Tamar Slay held a basketball camp at Lewisburg Baptist Academy last week, July 1-3, and the camp was a huge success.

More than 50 kids from as far as Princeton, Beckley, and Pocahontas County signed up and participated in the event and learned a lot about the game of basketball and the fundamentals of the sport as well.

Lewisburg mayor Beverly White showed up one day and had lunch with the staff and the kids.

Slay played in 66 career games in the NBA over three total seasons. He was a member of the New Jersey Nets (now Brooklyn Nets) and Charlotte Bobcats (now Charlotte Hornets). At Marshall, Slay is one of the best the Thundering Herd has ever had. He averaged 19.9 points per game as a sophomore and 15.7 for his career with 4.4 rebounds.
