Beware of ticket scams as you purchase your State Fair of West Virginia tickets

LEWISBURG, WV (WVNS) – The 99th annual State Fair of West Virginia is quickly approaching, offering cool rides, great eatery, big concerts, and much more.

With the technology of today, many people can skip the lines and order their tickets online. However, State Fair CEO, Kelly Collins warned fairgoers that this easier access could prove dangerous.

She told 59News that using secondhand sites to purchase tickets for the fair and its concerts may hurt fairgoers financially.

“One of the main reasons we tell people to make sure that they are buying from us or a verified site is that it may be a legitimate ticket, but say, you leave your ticket at home or leave it in your car. We cannot fix that ticket because it’s not listed in your name. We have to have the original ticket buyers name,” explained Collins.

This is especially important in the event of event cancellations.

The State Fair of West Virginia runs from Thursday, August 8 through Sunday, August 17.
