    Containment grows on Billy Creek Fire near Idaho-Washington border

    UPDATE: July 8, 9:45 a.m.

    Containment grew Sunday night on the Billy Creek Fire burning on the Washington/Idaho border south of Lewiston.

    According to Idaho Department of Lands, the fire is now 33% contained and remains at 3,169 acres. Containment is expected to grow in the coming days.

    There remains no closures or evacuations.

    UPDATE: July 7, 11:50 a.m.

    The Billy Creek Fire has grown to 3,169 acres and crews have contained about 10% of the fire. The fire is near the Idaho/Washington border off the Snake River.

    There are no evacuations in place. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

    UPDATE:  July 5, 10:30 p.m.

    According to Idaho Department of Lands, the Billy Creek Fire is remaining around 3,000 acres.

    The Idaho Department of Lands has provided new photos of the fire.

    Idaho Department of Lands says the Billy Creek Fire burning near the Idaho-Washington border is now over 3,000 acres.

    There are structures in the area, but fire crews are working hard to protect them through air support along the Snake River.

    As of the latest update, no evacuations have been issued in relation to the fire.

    A 1500-acre fire is burning near the Idaho-Washington border on Wednesday evening, according to the Idaho Department of Lands.

    The fire broke out around 3 p.m. on July 3 near the Snake River and Billy Creek near the Idaho-Washington border.

    According to IDL, the fire is burning on brush and grass and crews are dropping retardant on the flames.

    Over 60 firefighters are also doing suppression work on the ground.

    There are structures roughly a mile away from the fire, but as of 6:55 p.m., no structures are threatened and no evacuations have been ordered.
