BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Stanley Cup is coming to Western New York.

But no, it’s not because the Sabres won the Stanley Cup.

Florida Panthers senior advisor and former Sabre Rick Dudley will bring Lord Stanley to Lewiston on Tuesday as part of his day with the cup after Florida won its first-ever title in June, beating the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup finals.

Dudley will have the cup at Griffon Gastropub in Lewiston from 5 p.m. till 9 p.m. Tuesday for fans to see and take pictures with.

Dudley played for the Sabres from 1972-1975 and then again from 1978-1981 before returning as the team’s head coach in 1989 and coaching until 1991. He currently resides in Lewiston.

“I think it’s the people,” Dudley said Monday. “There’s some incredible areas around here. I live in Lewiston, it’s such a beautiful place.”

You can watch Dudley’s full interview from Monday morning in the video player above.
