    All ages programs

    Family-Friendly Films – All Ages

    • First Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m.

    This monthly family film series focuses on books that were adapted into films. The companion book for April’s film is “ Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” by Roald Dahl. The companion book for May’s film is based on an adaptation of “ Wish” by Barbara O’Connor . Snacks are welcome.

    Solar Eclipse Viewing Party

    • Monday, April 8, from 2:30-4 p.m.

    • Shallowford Park

    Join in to celebrate all things astronomical with a viewing party for the solar eclipse. The program is come and go from 2:30-4 p.m. outdoors on the Shallowford Square lawn. Eclipse viewing glasses will be available for reservation (one pair per family). To reserve a pair of glasses, call 336-703-2940. Please note that we are not in the path of totality for this solar eclipse. Program is subject to inclement weather. Any cancellation will be announced on the library ’s social media outlets

    National Library Week: April 7-13

    Take a Shelfie!

    • April 7-13

    Library /reading photo props will be available for customers to use to take photos of themselves in their favorite spot or section of the library . Customers will be able to share those photos with staff to be posted on social media or turned into a button.

    Library Trivia Game

    • April 7-13

    Test your library knowledge with our trivia game. Correct entries will be entered to win a small prize. Sponsored by the Friends of the Lewisville Library .

    Send Us Some Love

    • April 7-13

    During National Library Week library users can share with us and others why they love the library . These “love notes” will be posted around the library desk for the community to read. At the end of the week, the notes will be put into a drawing and the lucky winner will receive a small prize.

    Movie Matinee

    • Wednesday, April 10, at 5:30 p.m.

    In honor of National Library Week, the Lewisville Branch will be featuring a film with a feisty librarian who helps save the day. All rights reserved. Bring a friend and enjoy this free family film. The film is rated PG-13.

    Child programs

    Toddler Storytime

    • Mondays at 10 a.m.

    Ages 2 and under and their caregivers, but all ages are welcome. Join in for stories, fingerplays, songs and activities designed for small children. Programming Break starting April 29.

    Preschool Storytime

    • Tuesdays at 10 a.m.

    Ages 3-5 and their caregivers, but all ages are welcome. Join in for stories, fingerplays, songs and activities designed for small children. Programming Break starting April 30.

    Take & Make Crafts for Kids

    • First week of the month

    • April 1-6 and May 6-11

    Kids can pick up kits to make their own unique craft. While supplies last.

    Search & Find

    Can you find all the hidden objects in the Children’s Room at the Lewisville Branch Library ? Pick up an entry form and start looking. If you find all the objects, you win a prize! One entry per person. While supplies last.

    Builders’ Club

    • Wednesday, April 17, at 4 p.m.

    • Tuesday, May 21, at 4 p.m.

    Bring your creative building skills and come play. Many building supplies will be on hand, including LEGOs, K’Nex and more. All ages welcome.

    Teen programs

    Dungeons & Dragons Meetup Group

    • Select Mondays from 3-5 p.m.

    • April 1, 15 & 29 and May 13

    Ages 13-17 recommended, but all are welcome. Have you ever wanted to learn to play Dungeons & Dragons? Are you an experienced player who would like a place to meet up and have adventures? Join the Lewisville Branch Dungeons & Dragons meetup group! An experienced Game Master will be on hand to teach those who want to learn, and character sheets and dice will be provided.

    STEAM for Teens and Tweens

    • Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30 p.m.

    • April 10 and May 8

    Ages 9-18. Explore science, technology, engineering, art and math in STEAM programs. Registration is required. Call 336-703-2940 for more information or to register.

    Adult programs

    Lewisville Branch Reading Contest
    Take part in the yearlong reading contest for your chance to win a $25 gift certificate to Bookmarks bookstore. The contest has two levels: Beginner and Aficionado. You can choose to read one or both levels. Contest logs are available at the Lewisville Branch Library .

    Beginners’ entries are entered once. Aficionados’ entries are entered twice. If you complete both Beginner and Aficionado categories, you’re entered four times to win. Submit entries by Saturday, Dec. 14. The winner will be announced on Monday, Dec. 16.

    Tuesday at Two Book Club

    • First Tuesdays at 2 p.m.

    • April 2 and May 7

    • April selection: Nursery rhymes (Readers will select a nursery rhyme and investigate the origin of it.)
    • May selection: Camera Girl by Carl Anthony

    Hook & Loop Group

    • First Wednesdays at 11 a.m.

    Come and join yarn crafters who like to knit, crochet, embroider and such. S hare each other’s company and maybe a tip or two about a project. Bring your own project to work on or use some simple supplies and patterns that will be on hand. All skill levels are welcome.

    • First and third Thursdays at noon

    Help uplift your mind and body with yoga classes facilitated by local yoga instructor Tracy O’Neill. Sponsored by the Friends of the Lewisville Library . Signed waiver required.

    Belly Dancing for Beginners

    • First Fridays at 11 a.m.

    • April 5 and May 17

    Get your shimmy on! Learn the basic moves of this beautiful dance form as people of all ages come together to promote health, happiness and community. Suitable for all shapes, sizes and fitness levels. Wear comfy clothes and shoes. This is a free monthly class. Recommended for ages 18 and up but all ages are welcome.

    Virtual Lunch & Learn Series with the N.C. Cooperative Extension

    • Second Tuesdays from noon-1 p.m.

    • April 9 — “Become a Scam Detective”

    Everyone should be aware of the types of scams that you may encounter and how to protect yourself. In this program you will learn ways to recognize the red flags that you are being targeted so you can prevent it from happening to you. Bring your lunch and learn during this virtual workshop.

    • May 14 — “Embracing Wellness: Helping You Improve Your Life”

    We are all aging but how we do it is up to us. This workshop which will provide tips for healthy aging that include learning how to live a healthier lifestyle; move more; reduce salt, fat and sugar; manage chronic illnesses; and give back by volunteering.

    These are a series of virtual workshops that feature a new topic each month related to Family and Consumer Sciences. Each workshop is part of the 2024 Extension at Home Series: Helping You Improve Your Life, brought to you by a collaboration of N.C. Cooperative Extension Agents and hosted by the Lewisville Branch Library .

    Books for Dudes Book Club

    • Second Thursdays at 6 p.m.

    • April 11 and May 9

    Are you a dude who likes to read? Are you a dude who is curious what other dudes are reading? Are you a dude who wants to get back into reading, but doesn’t know where to start? Then the Lewisville Branch Library has the perfect book club for you. Join in as dudes share, discuss and recommend their favorite books to other dudes. There will not be a pre-set reading list. The group is recommended for dudes, but all are welcome. The group meets every second Thursday at 6 p.m.

    Color and Coffee

    • Second and fourth Fridays from 10-11:30 a.m.

    • April 12 and 26; May 10 and 24

    Color and Coffee is a morning to relax, color, be with others and enjoy a cup of coffee on the house. Coloring sheets, colored pencils and coffee will be available for participants. Call 336-703-2940 for more information.

    Witchy Washi & Whatnot Crafts

    • Third Wednesdays at 10 a.m.

    • April 17 and May 15

    • April: Creations with corks
    • May: Flowers

    The monthly Witchy Washy & Whatnot Crafts group is a great place to meet other crafters and learn to make all sorts of fun projects, many of which include the use of washi tape. For adults and children ages 12 and up. Space and supplies are limited to first 12 registrants, so call the branch (336-703-2940) to reserve your spot.
