Michelle Wilson has been selected as principal for The Hub for Innovative Learning & Leadership, or The HILL, which is slated to open in fall 2025 in the former Herald-Leader building on Lexington’s Midland Avenue.

With more than two decades of experience in education, Wilson previously served as head principal at Elkhorn Crossing High School in Georgetown. She begins her job Aug. 26.

“Michelle Wilson’s extensive experience and passion for creating transformative learning environments make her the perfect leader for the Hub for Innovative Learning and Leadership,” Superintendent Demetrus Liggins said in a statement. “Her proven track record in fostering strong community partnerships and her dedication to preparing students for real-world success align perfectly with our vision for The HILL. We are thrilled to have her at the helm, guiding our students to new heights in their educational and career journeys.”

Wilson’s diverse career includes serving as a business and marketing teacher, an assistant principal, and as head teacher for eight years at Elkhorn Crossing. She also made significant contributions as a Persistence to Graduation program consultant at the Kentucky Department of Education, where she won the Strategic Excellence and Achievement Award.

Wilson has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, a master’s in Education with a focus on business education, and a Master of Arts in Education in Instructional Leadership.
