The Lexington Police Department has arrested a man accused of killing another man Tuesday.

Xavier Walker , 28, was arrested Sunday and booked into the Fayette County Detention Center. Police said he’s been charged with murder, first-degree robbery and possession of a firearm by convicted felon.

Walker is accused of shooting and killing 30-year-old Deonte Logan on the 2000 block of Cambridge Drive Tuesday. Police previously said they responded to a report of shots fired and found Logan suffering from a gunshot wound.

Logan was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced dead, according to police.

It was the 11th homicide of 2024 in Lexington, according to police data. Lexington’s homicide count now stands at 12 after a Sunday fatal shooting on Betsy Lane that left Esmerelda Lizete Rodriguez Perez, 28, dead.

Walker is being held on a $750,000 bond, according to court records. He’s scheduled to be arraigned in Fayette District Court Monday afternoon.

Suspect was previously convicted of robbery

Walker has previously been convicted of robbery twice in the past 10 years, according to court records.

In 2014 he accepted a guilty plea deal that amended down three counts of first-degree robbery to second-degree robbery. A fourth count of first-degree robbery was dismissed. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

In January 2017 Walker once again accepted a guilty plea deal that amended down a first-degree robbery charge to second-degree robbery, according to court records. He also pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property (firearm) and convicted felon in possession of a firearm. He was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
