It might be time to pull out a jacket, because there’s a new chill in the air this week.

Temperatures during the morning commute Tuesday were in the 50s, where they’ll remain for the next several commutes.

Central Kentucky can expect mild, sunny weather for the remainder of the week.

Overnight lows will be in the 40s, with daytime highs in the low 70s, according to the National Weather Service in Louisville.

By next week, WKYT Chief Meteorologist Chris Bailey says we could have some days with highs only in the 50s, with some frost likely early in the week and morning lows around freezing.

And with those cooler temperatures comes the promise of some beautiful leaf color .

By next week, bursts of color should be visible in much of the state.

SmokyMountains.com’s foliage prediction map shows Kentucky’s fall foliage nearing its peak in about two weeks, with colors at their peak around Oct. 28.
