Kentucky man believed to have shot, killed mother and her friend before killing himself

A Southern Kentucky man appears to have shot and killed his mother and her friend before turning a gun on himself, according to authorities.

The deaths in Clinton County resulted from an apparent double homicide and a suicide, Clinton County Coroner Lonnie Scott said.

Police identified the women as Linda Flowers, 76, and Linda Crouch, 78, both of Albany, and the man as Brent Flowers, 45.

Brent Flowers was the son of Linda Flowers, Scott said.

Both women had been shot and Brent Flowers died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

Scott said Linda Flowers and Crouch had been to church Sunday morning and then went to eat before going to Flowers’ home.

Police were asked to check on the women and found them dead inside Flowers’ home on Lakepoint Drive Monday at 11:45 a.m., according to a news release.

Police found Brent Flowers’ body outside the house.

Authorities believe the deaths happened on Sunday, Scott said.

State police did not release information on a possible motive for the shootings.
