Cameron, Cayden Boozer make their college choices. See where the ex-UK recruits are going.

Two of the top class of 2025 college basketball recruits are now off the board. And as expected, these twin brothers will be a package deal at the next level.

Cameron and Cayden Boozer — the twin sons of former NBA all-star and Duke college basketball legend Carlos Boozer — announced their college commitments to the Blue Devils on Friday morning.

Cameron, a 6-foot-9 power forward, is ranked by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 2 prospect in the 2025 class. He’s the highest-ranked prospect in the 2025 class to announce his commitment.

Cayden , a 6-foot-4 point guard, is ranked by the same recruiting service as the No. 21 prospect in the class.

Both Boozer twins are considered five-star recruits and were deciding between Duke and hometown school Miami (Fla.) as their recruitments entered the homestretch.

As high school juniors, both the Boozer twins took an official recruiting visit to Kentucky in September 2023, when John Calipari still led the UK program. That trip to Lexington marked the first official visits in each of their recruitments.

But following Kentucky’s offseason coaching transition from Calipari to Mark Pope, Kentucky fell off in the recruitment of both the Boozer twins.

In May, during the first live recruiting period for Pope as the Kentucky coach, both Cameron and Cayden detailed where the Wildcats stood in their recruitments, at that time.

“Kentucky has some of the best facilities I’ve seen,” Cameron said in May. “I haven’t really seen much of their play style (with Pope), but I’m sure (Pope) is a great coach and we’ll see where that goes.”

“They’re a winning program,” Cayden added. “Obviously when I visited, Coach Cal was still there, but the facilities there are amazing and if they reach out, I’ll definitely be interested for sure.”

Pope and other members of the Kentucky coaching staff were constant presences during the spring and summer at Nightrydas Elite games in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League. That team featured both of the Boozers along with five-star, class of 2025 power forward Caleb Wilson, who remains a top UK recruiting target and who visited the Wildcats last month.

UK’s recruitment of the Boozer twins ultimately fizzled out as both sides prioritized other schools and prospects.

In both pledging to play at Duke, Cameron and Cayden are set to continue one of the most fruitful youth basketball partnerships in recent history.

The duo have starred together at both Christopher Columbus High School in Miami and with the aforementioned Nightrydas Elite squad on the Nike grassroots circuit. Columbus has won three consecutive state championships in Florida. During this stretch, Cameron has averaged 20.7 points, 11.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.1 blocks per game. Cayden has averaged 16.6 points, 5.1 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game.

Their Nightrydas Elite team has won the under-15, under-16 and under-17 Peach Jam championships, all in consecutive years.

Cameron and Cayden are now the first college commitments in the 2025 recruiting class for head coach Jon Scheyer and Duke.

Carlos, the father of Cameron and Cayden, played at Duke from 1999 to 2002 and won the 2001 national championship at the school.

The Blue Devils now join Kentucky as the only two programs with multiple commitments from prospects ranked in the top 25 of the 247Sports Composite for the 2025 class.

UK has guard Jasper Johnson (No. 14) and center Malachi Moreno (No. 24) in the fold from next year’s recruiting group.

Kentucky basketball continues to recruit 2025 prospects

Kentucky basketball has two commitments in its 2025 recruiting class from a pair of in-state prospects. Five-star center Malachi Moreno (Great Crossing) and five-star guard Jasper Johnson (Overtime Elite) have both pledged to join Pope’s first full recruiting class at UK.

Johnson, who played his junior season at Link Academy in Missouri, began his high school career at Woodford County. He is the son of former Harrodsburg, University of Kentucky and NFL football player Dennis Johnson, who is now the head football coach and athletic director at Woodford County.

Kentucky’s continued recruiting efforts in the 2025 class are now centered, mainly, on five players.

Those players are point guard Mikel Brown Jr., combo guards Brayden Burries and Acaden Lewis, power forward Caleb Wilson and center Chris Cenac.

Brown, Cenac and Wilson all took official visits to Kentucky in September. Lewis is visiting Kentucky this week and will be at Big Blue Madness on Friday night in Rupp Arena.
