Kentucky baseball players earn Academic All-America Honors

The Bat ‘Cats spent just as much time in the books as they did on the field this season.

Mitchell Daly and Emilien Pitre have both earned Division I Academic All-America Honors for their successes in the classroom this semester, with Daly named to the second team and Pitre named to the third. The duo are the eighth and ninth players in program history to receive Academic All-America honors.

To be eligible for the honor, players needed a 3.50 minimum grade point average and remarkable time spent in games.

Daly, one of Kentucky’s biggest contributors in their journey to Omaha, earned a 3.90 in Communications. The graduate transfer from Texas made his presence known in Lexington, earning All-Tournament team in the Lexington Regional and the Southeastern Conference All-Defensive Team.

Pitre marked a 3.56 working towards a degree in Management. The junior from Quebec, Canada has earned multiple academic and athletic honors during his time at Kentucky, including Academic All-District, Southeastern Conference All-Defensive Team, All Southeastern Conference Second-Team, among others.

Under Nick Mingione’s leadership, six of the aforementioned Academic All-America honors have occurred during his eight seasons with the ‘Cats. The fruits of Kentucky Baseball’s labor transcends the field and transpires in the classroom as well.
