The tournament is set for August 1-3 at the Lexington Polo Club, located within the Kentucky Horse Park. Sixteen players from around the world will compete in this special event.

Visit Lexington has been instrumental in making this tournament a reality. Lexington is known as the “Horse Capital of the World” and The Kentucky Horse Park, owned and operated by the State of Kentucky, has been celebrating man’s relationship with the horse since 1978. In addition to the International Museum of the Horse, the park offers a mixture of presentations and events, and hosts a variety of equestrian competitions. The Kentucky Horse Park is also home to the Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event, one of the world’s premier equestrian five star events.

Lexington Polo, founded in 1977, has graciously agreed to host the tournament. Lexington Polo is a premier destination for players, hosting the prestigious US Open Polo Championship on four occasions. Located within the grounds of the Kentucky Horse Park, the club holds public matches on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday and offers a range of options for players and students.

“The International Gay Polo Tournament (GPL), inspiring awareness for inclusiveness and equality, will be one of our most colorful events, and plans for the August tournament are off to an incredible start. We are excited to welcome the GPL to the horse park,” said Emilio Enciso, Lexington Polo Club Manager.

GPL events are second to none in providing a culture of togetherness, equality, safety, and high fashion to inspire and empower lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals in sports and beyond.

The GPL finals will take place on Saturday, August 3, featuring three polo matches and a captivating tailgate competition.

“While this event is a fun and competitive one, the desire for visibility and equality pushes us to do more each year,” shared Gay Polo League founder Chip McKenney. “We are excited about the new components that we will announce soon and are forever grateful for the unwavering commitment of our players, supporters, and sponsors for doing all they can to enact change.”
