Do you need more hot dog buns?

The Fourth of July is nearly upon us. Americans typically celebrate the country’s independence relaxing, watching fireworks and of course — grilling and or barbecuing.

But what if you forgot to bring a condiment or need some extra packs of napkins and plastic forks? And what about garbage pickup or if you need to swing by the bank?

Here’s a list of what’s open and closed July 4 in the Columbia and Lexington areas.

    Local government offices

Columbia City Hall , West Columbia City Hall and Lexington Town Hall are all set to be closed on July 4th. Regular hours will resume on Friday.

    Garbage pickup

Garbage pickup will remain on normal schedules in the city of Columbia despite the holiday. In West Columbia, however, anyone receiving sanitation services on Thursday will instead see their trash picked up on Wednesday. In the town of Lexington, Thursday garbage will be collected on Friday.

Residential and curbside solid waste and recycling collection in the unincorporated areas of Lexington County will operate on a partial adjusted pickup schedule during holiday week. Thursday’s garbage collection will be moved to Friday and the regular Friday collection will be done on Saturday.

    Grocery stores

Grocery stores will be open for Independence Day, including Publix, Walmart, Target, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods Market, Aldi and Piggly Wiggly.

    Pharmacies

Walgreens and CVS stores will be open for the July 4th holiday.

    Banks

The Federal Reserve will be closed on Thursday for July 4th, so don’t expect any banks to be open on that day either.

    Post office, UPS and FedEx

The U.S. Postal Service will be closed on Thursday for the holiday. Customers who want to purchase stamps, mail packages or ship urgent letters or packages on July 4 can use the Self-Service Kiosks available at select post offices, the Postal Service states.

UPS will be closed on Thursday for deliveries, however, some of its stores may be open. Call ahead before you visit a local store.

FedEx delivery services will be unavailable on Thursday.
