“One day it started raining, and it didn’t quit for four months,” said Forrest Gump — or any Lexingtonian lately. Now that the rain has subsided and Lexington is seeing steamy temps, we’ve compiled six different indoor activities to enjoy this summer.

    Activate Games , 2312 Sir Barton Way, Ste. 150 | $25
Hamburg’s interactive gaming experience boasts high-tech games that will challenge you both mentally and physically. Electronic wristbands track your score as you compete against friends and family.

Battle Axes , 164 Turner Commons Way | Prices vary
Take the outdoor adventures inside at this Turner Commons entertainment venue which features go-karts, zip lines, bowling, inflatable bounce houses, an arcade + a fully stocked bar.

Joseph-Beth Booksellers , 161 Lexington Green Cir. | Price of purchase
Fan yourself with the pages of your new summer read + order a refreshing snack from Bronte Bistro. Plus, you can stroll along the pond behind the store to take in views + feed the ducks.

Lexington’s historic and independently-owned theater shows screenings of both modern + classic films. The “ Summer Classics ” series is a local favorite — screening a well-known film every Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. throughout the summer.

Lexington Ice Center and Sports Complex , 560 Eureka Springs | $13
Lexington’s ice skating rink is open for the summer until Sunday, July 31. The facility also offers gymnasiums for basketball + volleyball and miniature golf courses.

The Mad Potter , 3385 Tates Creek Rd. | Prices vary
This paint-your-own-pottery studio offers walk-ins with no studio fees. Try your hand at something new, then leave with your hand piece to remember the fun times — think: mugs, plates, teapots + more.
