Dating in the modern world fascinates, terrifies, thrills, and disgusts me simultaneously. The thought of chatting with someone online who might be catfishing is terrifying. At the same time, the thought of possibly connecting with someone online who may be many miles away and yet a soul connection is magical. Anything is possible in today's dating scene. I trust my intuition, and I know that setting firm boundaries is essential.

Today, I want to discuss traits that immediately turn men off when they are newly dating. I have discussed this topic with men before and find it fascinating that so many women apparently make these taboo mistakes.

Ladies, don't do the following, or you will probably not move forward to date number two, at least with a high-quality gentleman.

1. One crucial mistake to avoid is photoshopping your online pictures. This can create a false impression and immediately turn your date off, as they may feel you're not being genuine.
2. Nagging is a no-no.
3. Another key point is to avoid complaining, especially on the first date. Instead, try to be chill and go with the flow, as it shows a relaxed and easy-going attitude.
4. Avoid talking too much. Practice active listening. Men appreciate this. Ask questions and avoid talking too much about yourself.
5. Do not be clingy. Let him text you first and wait a bit before texting back.
6. Do not lack self-esteem. Men like confidence.
7. Avoid throwing yourself at him or being overly aggressive. Flirty is good; love bombing is a red flag.
