Liberal High School Hosts Junior High Basketball Camp

LIBERAL, MO – The small town of Liberal would see its high school gym packed early Thursday afternoon. Lead by returning coach Adam Wolf, the Bulldogs would host an even for junior high athletes.

Over thirty 6th-8th graders would be in action working on new skills. Coach Wolf would break down each set to help train the athletes. Wolf said the biggest reward to coaching is seeing the kids apply the skills they learned to the games they play in.

“When you see the lights come on and you hear the kids say, ‘whatever we just did in this drill, it’s because it happens in this game’, it’s really satisfying to see as a coach,” said Wolf.

“To see a kid figure out how to play basketball on their own is one of the most rewarding things.”

Dribbling, passing, and placement were important takeaways from the camp. Rolli, a youth camper at Liberal High School, said she enjoyed working on footwork.

“We had a whole bunch of fun,” said Rolli. “We did some offensive and defensive drills, along with a whole bunch of shooting and working on footwork. I really enjoyed seeing myself improve.”

The camp for the junior high athletes would finish at 11 a.m. A similar camp, offered for 1st-5th graders, will be offered on Friday, July 19th from 12-2 p.m.
