Driver hurt after car crashes into Emporia apartment building
One person has been taken to Newman Regional Health after a crash in Emporia early Tuesday. The crash was reported at the Prairie Sage apartment complex, 302 East 12th, just after 6 am. Emporia Fire says this was a single-vehicle wreck as a vehicle went into an apartment complex. The driver was taken to Newman Regional Health with non-life-threatening injuries. It’s unclear if the man was suffering some sort of medical condition at the time of the wreck.
Kansas State Fair adds lighting to parking lots
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Kansas State Fair will have new lighting in the parking lots of the grounds this year to help fairgoers feel more safe. "We are doing two things in the parking lots this year," Kansas State Fair general manager Bryan Schulz said. "We added the cameras, plus we're increasing the lighting out in the parking lot. We're working with Reno County Emergency Management and bringing in three light towers, so that will light up lots A and B even more."

Wichita school adopts cell phone-free policy
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Wichita Trinity Academy has issued "Yondr bags" to students to prevent them from accessing their phones, earbuds or smartwatches during school hours. Trinity said students in grades 8-12 must place their cell phones, smartwatches and ear buds in these bags at the beginning of the day. The bag will lock and prevent the student from accessing their devices during school hours. At the end of the day, students will touch their bag to a base which will open the bag.
