Driver hurt after car crashes into Emporia apartment building
One person has been taken to Newman Regional Health after a crash in Emporia early Tuesday. The crash was reported at the Prairie Sage apartment complex, 302 East 12th, just after 6 am. Emporia Fire says this was a single-vehicle wreck as a vehicle went into an apartment complex. The driver was taken to Newman Regional Health with non-life-threatening injuries. It’s unclear if the man was suffering some sort of medical condition at the time of the wreck.

Today, we salute Lt. Cmdr. Michael Flanigan. Michael, a native of Halstead, serves the U.S. Navy assigned to Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 142 at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. Michael graduated from Halstead High School in 2005. He graduated from Kansas State University in 2010. The skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in Halstead. Michael said, ““Growing up, I learned that if you want something, you have to work hard for it.” Michael joined the Navy 14 years ago. Today, he serves as a pilot and maintenance officer for the squadron, flying an EA-18G Growler – a carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft and the cornerstone of the naval Airborne Electronic Attack (AEA) mission. Meet the Augusta Recreation Commission Director
After passing a vote to approve a Recreation Commission in May 2023, the Robinson Community Wellness & Resource Center is turning into the Augusta Recreation Center. The vote passed by 82.62% with 751 of the votes being a “yes”, and 158 being “no”. All resources currently located at the facility will remain there with the Recreation Commission being a new member of the already existing building. This summer the Augusta Recreation Commission Board of Directors hired a director for the commission, Klinton Warner.
