LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN) — A man was taken to the hospital after police found him in the buff along a busy road in Liberty Township.

It was quite the sight for drivers on Belmont Avenue Sunday who came across a man dancing in the streets, but it’s what he wasn’t wearing that’s cause for concern.

Officer: “Alright, he is completely naked.”

“Probably a little traumatic experience for everyday travelers,” said Capt. Ray Buhala.

Officers originally were called to the area of Belmont Avenue and Churchill Hubbard Road around 7:45 p.m. Sunday for a man in the middle of the intersection who was screaming at cars.

Caller: “He is volatile and extremely angry.”

When officers arrived, the man wasn’t wearing anything.

Officer: “We’re just gonna sit in my car. You’re naked.”
    Man: “Oh (expletive)!”
    Officer: “Come on over here.”

Police body camera video shows the man dancing at one point and yelling at another.

Man: “God is here. The Black man is god.

“He was not making any sense,” Buhala said.

The video goes on to show the man jumping up and down with his hands on the front of a cruiser. Officers say he ignored their commands.

“He started to behave a little bit combative. The officers did initiate a taser, and they also had an ambulance respond while they were dealing with the male,” Buhala said.

The man was taken to the hospital to undergo a psychological evaluation.

“Definitely cause for alarm. We didn’t know exactly what this male was trying to achieve, but he definitely got our attention, and we were able to get him to a place to get some help,” Buhala said.

As for why he was acting that way, Buhala said it’s too early to tell.

“Too early in the investigation to determine what caused this,” he said.

Police say charges are expected to be filed.
