Utah Jazz Have Rebranded… AGAIN! This Time It’s AWESOME!
The yellow is dead... well, almost! It was announced two years ago that the Utah Jazz would be rebranding to a whole new look and color scheme. It was maybe the worst decision in the history of the franchise. The jerseys were ugly, plain, and way too minimalist. However, fans like me still bought merchandise and supported the team. Well, two LONG years later, the Utah Jazz have released the first look at their ALL NEW rebrand, and the fans are finally getting back what we've always wanted: PURPLE MOUNTAINS!
Not Too Early Big XII Hoops Predictions: No. 7, BYU
The BYU Cougars will probably be the deepest team in the Big XII, and outside of Houston, no other squad will have as much roster continuity. What they don't have, however, is coaching continuity. Kevin Young takes over for Mark Pope who was poached by Kentucky. Young has next to no college coaching experience but was the associate head coach of the Phoenix Suns in his last stop. Given that the difference between power conference college basketball and the NBA has narrowed dramatically, Young's NBA experience could prove beneficial. However, the college game is far more physical than the NBA--according to no less than Stan Van Gundy--and BYU's downfall last year was a lack of physical and mental toughness. I'm convinced much of BYU's softness traced to Pope, and if Young can instill some toughness in the Cougars, they could go far this season.
