LDAF Cites Arson as Cause of Logging Fire
The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF) investigated a fire Saturday, August 24, that broke out at LA Highway 465, north of Simpson. A logging crew working in the area had left work on August 23. While they were absent, a fire broke out on several pieces of equipment and some timber. One skidder was destroyed, and another skidder and a loader were damaged. The timber also burned. The total value of the losses was over $500,000.
LaSalle Parish authorities investigate threat to school, suspect arrested
JENA, La. (KNOE) - The LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect after investigating a threat made to a LaSalle Parish school. The investigation began on Thursday, August 29 after LPSO and the Jena Police Department received multiple calls from residents concerned about a message circulating through social media regarding an incident that would take place on Friday (August 30).
Jeff Landry names son of late board member to LSU board
Blaise Zuschlag will finish out the term of his late father Richard Zuschlag on the LSU Board of Supervisors, Gov. Jeff Landry announced Friday. Richard Zuschlag, who founded and was chairman and CEO of powerhouse medical transport company Acadian Companies, died in June from complications following cancer treatment. His term as board member-at-large ends May 31, 2028.
Gov. Landry Bans Critical Race Theory From Louisiana Classrooms
Governor of Louisiana Jeff Landry has signed an executive order into law, banning Critical Race Theory (CRT) in the state's K-12 schools. It's been months since the controversial teaching concept has been a hot topic but as of this Tuesday Governor Landry has signed Executive Order JML 24-132 which will ban any schools from enacting rules, bulletins, regulations, contracts, or policies that might endorse what is considered by many to be the core tenants of CRT.
