Hospital opens new clinic in Licking

Texas County Memorial Hospital will hold a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony at its new clinic in Licking from 2 to 4 p.m. today, July 11.

“We take great pride in and eagerly anticipate the positive effects of the new clinic on the residents of Licking and Texas County,” Bill Bridges, TCMH interim chief executive officer, said. “At TCMH, our aim is to provide exceptional healthcare to the families and individuals we are privileged to serve.”

The 8,400 square-foot building has three provider offices, nine oversized exam rooms, an X-ray facility, laboratory services, a phlebotomy station, three nursing stations, a covered drop-off, parking and an outdoor patio.

The clinic will be staffed by Whitney Hall, PA, and clinic staff. Hall, an employee of TCMH since 2014, will be joined by Amanda Lemp, DO, family medicine and obstetrics, starting Aug. 19.

“We are fortunate to have Whitney and the entire staff at our TCMH Licking Family Clinic,” Bridges expressed. “They consistently demonstrate genuine concern for their patients and provide them with a level of care that embodies a true sense of familial compassion.”

According to Bridges, funding for the project comes from a Community Development Block Grant (CBDG) of $1.69 million secured in 2022 by South Central Ozark Council of Governments (SCOCOG) for the City of Licking on behalf of the TCMH Licking Family Clinic. $250,000 in matching funds from the hospital was also included.

The clinic was originally known as the BJ Myers Clinic, where BJ Myers practiced in Licking for 37 years. The James Clinic purchased the Myers Building and his practice after Myers’ death in 1990. TCMH purchased the land June 1, 1991 for $8,163. Dr. Eugene Honeywell practiced from 1991 to 1993 in a clinic building purchased by TCMH on Nov. 1, 1991 for $86,000 before moving into the current clinic in 1993. Honeywell was employed by TCMH from Nov. 1, 1991 until his death June 18, 2010. He practiced in Licking for over 18 years.

TCMH purchased the clinic (formerly Mercy Medical Clinic) Nov. 1, 1993 for $164,565. The current building was remodeled in June 1999 for $26,082.
