A woman from Licking was charged Saturday afternoon after a Phelps County accident on U.S. 63 that injured two, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Esther M. Gann, 47, of Licking, is charged with DWI with serious physical injury.

Tpr. Caleb C. Marlow said a northbound 2010 Ford Edge driven by Gann, was following a northbound 2005 Chevrolet Colorado operated by Scott M. Jenkins, 38, of Newburg, that slowed to make a right turn. Marlow said the Edge failed to yield to the truck and struck the back of the Jenkins vehicle.

Jenkins and a 14-year-boy, who was his passenger, had serious injuries and were taken to Phelps Health in Rolla. Gann was not injured. She was taken to the Phelps County Jail and later released.

Authorities said the truck was totaled; the Edge had extensive damage.
