Carly Waddell Engaged to Todd Allen Tressler: ‘BiP’ Alum Gushes Over’ Dream Ring’ and Proposal

Carly Waddell and Todd Allan Tressler are engaged. The Bachelor in Paradise alum shared the exciting news on Thursday, October 17, and revealed that she actually popped the question to Todd one year prior.

“A little thing happened in Costa Rica,” Carly, 39, captioned an Instagram Reel where she showed off her engagement ring in photos and videos taken on the beach. “Many of y’all have been wondering why Todd wears a ring on his hand and it is actually because I asked him last Halloween to marry me first! (I’ll give you way more of this story SOON) BUT SPOILER ALERT, he said yes, even though to be honest he was so shocked it was hard for him to speak! Then, also SPOILER ALERT he asked me THIS October and I also said YES!!!!!”

The former reality star said she and Todd had been “looking at the traditional ring shops for a while” but ultimately chose James Allen to “custom design” exactly what she wanted. “I didn’t see the final product until he was down on his knee,” she added. “It’s more beautiful [than] I could have ever imagined it to be. Here’s to a new chapter with my dream man, and then dream ring he put on my left hand.”

The engagement ring features a pear and emerald shape diamond set in a classic yellow gold solitaire, according to James Allen’s sales manager and gemologist, Lorraine Brantner. The ring is 5.5 carats, the jeweler confirmed. The ring was designed to “allow [Carly’s] future wedding band to sit as close as possible.”

Carly first introduced fans to Todd via Instagram in March, which was four months after she first teased that she had a new man in her life. She revealed that they met because she slid into Todd’s DMs after seeing him being interviewed about his business on the midday news. Carly said she asked Todd out “in the most awkward voice text ever that [she] thought she would never send and then it accidentally did.”

“Here’s what I have been up to all year,” she captioned her March Instagram post. “Loving my loveable lawyer who also told me that I taught him what real love is, and he has done the same for me.” The two started dating in July 2023, so they kept their relationship out of the public eye for nine months before going public.

Before she started dating Todd, Carly was married to Evan Bass , whom she met on Bachelor in Paradise in 2016. They tied the knot the following year in Mexico and went on to welcome a daughter, Bella, in 2018 and a son, Charlie, in 2019. The exes split in 2020 .

Carly’s kids were part of Todd’s proposal. To pop the question, he pretended like he was taking a photo of the trio at sunset, only for them to turn around and see him down on one knee with Carly’s engagement ring. The singer’s Instagram post about the engagement featured several other glimpses into the trip, including a boat ride and horseback riding excursion.
