You eventually don't live near Amish country. They use smart phones for communication, and they use gas-powered equipment. They don't drive cars, but they hire people to chauffeur them around. If an Amish person is in the hospital, their family gathers around the TV mounted on the bed and watches it ignoring the person in the hospital.
