Kokomo Probationary Officer Terminated, Arrested Following Investigations
An internal investigation alongside a state police investigation led to the termination and arrest of a former Kokomo Police Department probationary officer. On July 1, Kokomo Police Department Chief Douglas Stout was reportedly contacted by a separate law enforcement agency in reference to a criminal allegation that involved a probationary officer at the Kokomo Police Department, which reportedly led the administration of the department to immediately contact the Indiana State Police to investigate the allegation. According to the department, Stout and the Professional Standards Unit initiated an internal investigation alongside the report to the state police.
Nappanee teen not to be charged with initial charges
A Nappanee teen initially charged with causing death when operating a vehicle while intoxicated will not be charged with that charge. The crash happened in Nappanee on October 15 when reports say a vehicle, driven by Solano Cruz, crossed the center line and drove into the pathway of a transit van heading south.

STURGIS - Sturgis Public Schools has announced 71 English Language students tested out of needing EL services. The students achieved the milestone during the 2023-2024 school year by demonstrating proficiency on the World-class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) ACCESS, an assessment that measures the four language domains of listening, reading, speaking and writing. The WIDA ACCESS meets U.S. federal requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) for monitoring and reporting of EL progress toward English language proficiency.

FWPD: Man wanted for child molesting arrested in Avilla
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A 47-year-old man was arrested Monday morning on five felony charges related to two children being sexually abused, the Fort Wayne Police announced. Angel Maldonado-Viscaino was named by two children as their abuser after their family brought them to the FWPD Victims Assistance office to report the abuse. He was arrested Avilla with help from Noble County Sheriff’s Department deputies.
