MARION CENTER SCHOOL BOARD APPROVES SEEKING COSTS FOR CAMPUS PROJECTS
With classes starting on Thursday, the Marion Center school board approved several motions connected with the upcoming school year at their meeting last night. The board approved seeking cost proposals for survey updates and soil testing for the sidewalk, retaining wall and elevator at the W.A. McCreery/high school complex. Superintendent Clint Weimer said the sidewalk and retaining wall are the biggest areas of concern.
MARION CENTER BOARD TO CONSIDER SEEKING COST PROPOSALS FOR PROJECTS
The Marion Center School Board meets tonight to finalize things before the start of the school year. Along with motions for bus stops, the district volunteer list, and an adjustment to the contract with Smith Bus Company for fuel, the board will look to authorize architectural firm HHSDR to seek cost proposals for survey updates and soil testing related to the retaining wall, elevator and sidewalk projects. The board will also consider the replacement of a hot water tank at W.A. McCreery.

Warren’s girls tennis team opened the season on Monday with a 5-0 sweep of visiting Oil City at Betts Courts. “We were battling rain for the first couple hours of this match and had to delay the start time until about 6:15 p.m., so we decided to shorten up the format and do eight-game pro sets,” said Warren coach Thomas Pellegrino.
Southern Venango County Community Day set Saturday
The annual Southern Venango County Community Day will be held from 10 a.m. to dusk Saturday at the Clintonville fire hall. The event will include a craft and vendor show and bake sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., games and a bouncy house from noon to 3 p.m. and Marty’s Bubblegum Machine show from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

The long-awaited reopening of Veterans Bridge in Oil City took place Monday afternoon after being closed for repairs for more than two months.
