    16-year-old boy drowns at Cheaha State Park

    CLEBURNE COUNTY, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A 16-year-old boy was pronounced dead after he drowned at Cheaha State Park on Sunday.

    According to Cleburne County Coroner Adam Downs, Thatcher Rigsby, of Lincoln, was pronounced dead at 1:58 p.m. Sunday after drowning at Cheaha Lake. Downs said the drowning is being deemed accidental pending confirmation from the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.

    The Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Clay County Rescue Squad, park rangers and Randolph County Rescue Squad in recovering the victim.
