GoatHouse Brewing Co. in Lincoln, CA announced on Facebook this month a change of ownership. The new owners, Mattie and Brian Place , are both locals and seasoned entrepreneurs.

Located at 600 Wise Road , GoatHouse has made itself a distinguishable gem over the past fifteen years. What started with the original founders’ dream to open a farm-based brewery has grown into a community staple where people can discover the art and agricultural roots of beer crafting. Everything about the brewery was one of a kind. Ales were made on site in the converted barn, and guests can see the hop fields providing for the brewery.

On February 14, Cathy and Michael Johnson announced the change of ownership in a post : “Michael and I would like to thank each and every person in the GoatHouse community for contributing to the magic that is GoatHouse. If you are wondering where we are going with this…. we’ve reached the crossroads where it is time for our family to say goodbye and move onto our next adventure.”

The new owners come in with their decade-plus entrepreneurial experience as seasoned Dutch Bros franchisees. In fact, What Now Sacramento covered the news about an upcoming Roseville kiosk the pair was working on not so long ago. Though new to the ownership, the Places are already making some positive changes with a series of recurring collaborations with various food truck vendors. Some exciting programming to put on the calendar includes West Coast Taco Bar & Beer , and Chicken, Biscuits & Beer .

“Brian and I would visit fairly often and just loved the whole idea of drinking a cold beer while watching our kids feed the goats and donkey. The atmosphere was just so awesome and we felt a sense of community which we loved!” Mattie Place told What Now Detroit in an email.

The new owners are also planning on quite a few updates, such as adding occasional “live music, trivia nights and sports watch parties.” Other improvements include new outside lighting to make the environment easier to navigate at night and a dedicated yard area for outdoor games in the future. For the inside, the new owners have added some couches and lounge chairs to create a more intimate seating area and a big chandelier for additional lighting. “It just needs to be brightened up a bit on the inside but no big renovations planned,” Place said in the email.
