Lincoln County kids had a chance to learn about and meet a variety of raptor birds last week.

The Lincoln County Public Library hosted a Birds of Prey event Thursday during which the Lake Cumberland Wildlife Refuge shared information about a variety of birds.

The event included live owls and hawks who live at the center in Somerset. All of the birds were saved from life-threatening injuries and brought to the facility to recover and live safe and happy lives.

Representatives with the center shared facts about each bird while attendees were able to see them up close.

The event was held at the Stanford Baptist Church Christian Life Center to accommodate more people. The next animal show will be the Newport Sharks on July 31. You must register to attend the event.
