Mushball Invitational returns to the beach
For the past 27 years, Lincoln City is the location for the annual Mushball Invitational. Mushball, a game similar to softball, originated in Chicago. It’s a game played with a 16-inch foam core ball that slowly becomes like “mush” as the game progresses. “It’s not about homeruns, it’s about getting base hits,” Lincoln City Mushball Invitational Coordinator John Taylor said. “It’s about playing the ball. Some teams play with gloves, some without. The age range is 18-60 years old. This game is a great equalizer.” ...
Newport firefighters deployed to assist with Dixon Fire
Newport Fire Chief Rob Murphy and firefighter Kaden Keogh have been deployed as members of Task Force 64 in Lincoln County to assist Douglas County with the Dixon Fire, currently burning near Canyonville in southwest Oregon. Murphy and Keogh will operate one of Newport’s Type 6 engines, which is able to maneuver through and access difficult terrain, making it beneficial for battling wildfires. High Speed Crash into Siletz Bay Park
On August 9th 2024, members of the North Lincoln Fire Department, Lincoln City Police Department, and Pacific West Ambulance responded to the Taft area of Lincoln City on the report of two separate crashes several blocks apart, one involving a Corvette which possibly rolled over. The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Oregon Coast Community College will be offering Construction Contractors Board (CCB) test prep in early September. This class will prepare students to qualify for and successfully pass the CCB exam required for contractor certification in Oregon. The class is taught by a certified CCB education provider and fulfills the pre-exam educational requirement as stipulated by Oregon regulations. Rec center to close for maintenance
