County commissioners announce grants for water, sewer and drainage districts
Lincoln County has allocated $398,000 of its American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) money to invest in local water, sewer and drainage districts serving unincorporated Lincoln County. The American Rescue Plan Act was signed into law in March of 2021 and provided states, cities, and counties with federal money to support pandemic recovery efforts and economic stimulus. Early Literacy Educator Preparation Council releases final recommendations
Following a one year review of Oregon's early literacy education, a state council has released its final recommendations to strengthen educator preparation programs for teaching reading and writing in Oregon elementary schools. In January, the Early Literacy Educator Preparation Council released initial recommendations to revise educator and school administrator preparation program standards for literacy instruction. School district announces administration changes
Lincoln County School District (LCSD) has announced two administrative changes for the upcoming school year. Ashley Freschi, currently serving as assistant principal at Taft Elementary School, will be transitioning to Oceanlake Elementary School in the same role. Denzil Kumar, assistant principal at Newport Middle School, will be moving to Taft Elementary as an assistant principal. Oregon adds 4,000 jobs
Oregon’s seasonally adjusted nonfarm payroll employment rose by 4,000 jobs in May, following a revised gain of 2,400 jobs in April, according to the Oregon Employment Department.
