Parking brake manufacturer notifies Missouri it’s shutting down
A company that manufactures parking breaks for vehicles has officially served notice that it’s shutting down its factory in central Missouri’s Columbia. OTSCON made its initial announcement back in April but made it official in a letter dated Monday to the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development. The letter states that 160 OTSCON employees will lose their jobs when the factory closes in or around October 31st.
City of Windsor to Change Date for Fireworks Display
Due to heavy rain forecast for the 4th of July, the Fire Department has chosen to delay the fireworks display until Saturday July 6th. The Windsor Area Chamber of Commerce has announced “all of the children’s games, the cardboard boat regatta and the kayak races will be held during our Summer Celebration on August 3rd.” Schedule of events will be posted next week.

Two family pets perished in a residential structure fire Tuesday morning in Leeton. Attentive neighbors reported smoke coming from the residence shortly after 9 a.m. July 2. The residents were not home at the time of fire. Personnel arrived to find heavy fire conditions and initiated an aggressive fire attack.

Springfield mother organizes GoFundMe after shooting death of 16-year-old son
A Springfield mother is grieving after the shooting death of her 16-year-old son. On June 21, Springfield police responded to a shooting at 2832 E. Linwood St. There, officers found Davondre Thompson-Baugher with a gunshot wound. Thompson-Baugher was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries on June 23, according to police.
