Nebraska Countdown to Kickoff: No. 47 LB Gage Stenger

Only 47 days. remain until the beginning of the 2024 season for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. In the player spotlight with 47 days to go is Huskers redshirt sophomore linebacker Gage Stenger.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound linebacker calls Omaha, Nebraska home and was a standout at Millard South High School where he played both quarterback and defensive back – once he arrived in Lincoln, he transitioned to linebacker.

As a prospect out of Millard South, Stenger was originally committed to Kansas State also holding offers from Illinois State, North Dakota, South Dakota State, and Wyoming. However, the Huskers flipped Stenger in October of 2021 away from the Wildcats.

In his first season with the program in 2022, he appeared against the Michigan Wolverines on special teams but did not see any playing time outside of that singular game. It was a redshirt season for the Omaha native.

Last season, Stenger did not appear in any games, once again using the year to develop both on and off the field.

In 2024, Stenger will look to carve himself out a role on defense or special teams for the Huskers.
