We haven't even seen the first rendition of the 12-team College Football Playoff and people are already discussing how the committee got it wrong.

Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule was highlighting how much deeper and more difficult it will be to win in the new look Big Ten. A conference that was already seemingly dominated by two programs in Ohio State and Michigan, and has since added Pac-12 powers USC, UCLA, Oregon, and Washington. With the depth of the conference and the playoff number growing, while they aren't saying it, everyone is well aware that there will be more losses dished out now than ever.

Something Rhule may have been trying to hint at when he made his comments about the Big Ten being the NFL of college football, while saying it deserved to get four teams in every year.

“I think four teams from this league should get in every year, because this is the best league," Rhule said. "This is the NFL of college football in my mind. It stretches coast to coast, different time zones, different weather. That’s not to diminish any other league, the SEC is amazing, these other leagues are great, but the challenge in the Big Ten is going to be very difficult.”

While much of what he said about how difficult the conference has become isn't wrong, it does seem as if excuses are already being made. ESPN's Paul Finebaum was absolutely outraged by Rhule's take, and put him on blast while making an appearance on Get Up.

“Man, stay in your lane!” Finebaum said about Rhule. “Job one: win enough games to get to some stupid bowl game. Don’t worry about the big boys, because you’re not one of them.

“We saw what you did in the NFL, you were a complete disaster in Carolina. You somehow got this job in Nebraska and you’re talking like you belong at the table with Ohio State and Georgia. You don’t! Just try to win maybe six games, quit choking big games on the final play and leave the punditry to the professionals. Thank you.”

Rhule and Nebraska are looking to end a bowl drought that has gone on since 2016. While Finebaum doesn't seem very high on the Cornhuskers, they do have a stout defense and a promising young quarterback in five-star freshman Dylan Raiola.
