College football analyst ranks Nebraska freshman quarterback highly in Big Ten quarterback rankings

There has been a lot of hype surrounding Nebraska’s new starting quarterback, Dylan Raiola. The consensus top quarterback in the 2023 recruiting class is the expected starter for Matt Rhule’s Nebraska Cornhuskers this upcoming season. Nebraska is recovering from a disappointing 5-7 season where they extended their seven-year bowl drought, but the expectations this season are much higher for the Cornhuskers.

Raiola is the single highest-rated signee in Nebraska’s history, so the expectations for the young signal caller are among the highest in college football. With that comes high expectations within the conference.

In Cody Nagel’s Big Ten quarterback rankings on 24/7 sports , Raiola was ranked sixth out of the 18 expected starters before even playing a single snap in college football. Nagel has Raiola ranked higher than veteran starter Tyler Van Dyke of Wisconsin and fellow young signal callers Aidan Chiles (Michigan State) and Alex Orji (Michigan).

Raiola has a gifted arm that allows him to make every throw. He also has the athletic ability to extend plays with his legs. He will be an exciting player, and after the struggles the Cornhuskers faced at the quarterback position, Raiola is a player who will be able to provide Rhule with stability at the position. If Raiola reaches his potential as a quarterback, there is reason to believe that his name will be the one sitting atop the conference quarterback rankings for years to come.

Nebraska’s first game of the season, Raiola’s first start, is at home against UTEP on August 31st. It is followed by a date against Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes in Lincoln on September 7th.
