3 Chinese Nationals plead ‘not guilty’ to marijuana charges
On July 11, three Chinese Nationals charged with illegal marijuana cultivation pled not guilty in Lincoln County Unified Criminal Court during individual arraignment hearings. In January, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office led six raids in Whitefield and Chelsea leading to the arrest of seven Chinese Nationals and the issuing of a summons to another person, in connection with alleged illegal marijuana growing cultivation operations. On Jan. 10, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department, Maine Office of Cannabis Policy and Department of Homeland Security executed three search warrants in Whitefield and Jefferson.

Matching grant helps restore historic building
HOLDEN--The historic Holden Town Hall building is getting a much needed upgrade. The two-story building, located on the Main Road in Holden, was built back in the 1870s when bathrooms were not indoors. Down East Showdown Recap and Winners
This past weekend, Bucksport Recreation/YMCA hosted the 3rd annual Down East Showdown in efforts to raise money for youth scholarships and Bucksport youth basketball. There were 16 teams representing 14 schools (two schools entered two teams) from as north as Presque Isle to as south as Portland for a weekend of competitive fun basketball.
