    Man found dead after Lincolnville crash was shot, deputies say

    CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A man who was found dead inside a crashed vehicle in Lincolnville had been shot, according to deputies.

    Deputies with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of Mill Street and Dunmeyer Hill Road just before 8 p.m. following reports of a single-vehicle crash with injuries.

    Once at the scene, deputies discovered the vehicle had crashed head-on into a piece of constriction equipment. They found an unresponsive man with a gunshot wound inside the vehicle.

    He died at the scene.

    The sheriff’s office’s Criminal Investigation unit, Forensic Services Unit, and the K-9 Unit responded along with the Charleston County Coroner’s Office.

    The victim’s name will be released when appropriate. There have not been any arrests but the investigation is active.
