LINDALE, Texas ( KETK ) – Heather and Jonathan Wells always wanted to open a snow cone stand and ice cream shop.

“This spot was truly a dream come true,” Main Street Produce & Plants owner Heather Wells said.

Now it’s become a reality as Main Street Produce & Plants in Lindale opens it’s doors.

“It means another small business contributing to our town, but it also means fun for families,” Lindale Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Shelbie Glover said.

The Wells family always focused on growing their products themselves. Now it’s helping them add a special touch to their soft serve.

“We just use a premade milk base and then we just cut up the produce, blend it and put it in our product, we don’t use syrups or dyes or anything like that,” Wells said.

Main Street Produce & Plants offers dye-free and sugar-free options and they’re a nut-free facility.

“We have a son and he is severely allergic to all nuts, peanuts, all tree nuts,” Wells said.

It was important for them to offer products for everyone to enjoy and hope to expand in the future.

“Our hope one day is to also do dairy-free soft serve, to add another bit of customers that are able to enjoy soft serve,” Wells said.

They’re amazed by the support they have received from the community and hope to be able to give back.

“Just be a good memory tradition for people, I’ve had some people say, ‘oh, this is going to be a tradition we make in coming to the end of the school year’ or ‘starting at the beginning of the school year’, just to be a tradition for the people of Lindale,” Wells said.

They added that this couldn’t have happened without their amazing staff, friends and family. The shop will be open until mid-November, but the owners hope to stay open all year at some point in the future.
