Last week a local business owner received a blessing from the community after a plea to help her through a tough time. Through ongoing patronage is important for any local business, she was thankful for the support she received.

In a social media post Kellie from the Break of Day Breakfast and Lunch shop commented, “I hope that your New Year has started off great. Unfortunately, ours has not. I am not one to beg and I have always been very grateful for the support we have received from the community all these years.

“These past few months have been slow. Business is at an all-time low and I need your help. Break of Day is in need of your patronage. We are hurting and need your help to keep us going. This is a small family business. I have always been here to make sure things were right. I’m not quite ready to quit now. Break of Day depends on you to keep going.

“So, if you could swing by for breakfast or lunch? Grab something from the cooler? Buy a gift card? Tell a friend? Share our post? Bottom line is Break of Day needs your help.

“Please know that this was the hardest post I have ever had to write and the last thing I ever wanted to post. Thank you for taking the time to read it. Kellie and all the staff at Break of Day.”

After her initial post people began showing up to her restaurant in droves. After a successful day, she made another post thanking people for the support.

“We had a really fantastic Saturday, over 200 eggs, 15 lbs. of bacon, more than 50 sausage patties and four loaves of bread for French Toast. All of us were tired but happy at the end of the morning. We just want to say thank you again for the business and the support.”

In a conversation with the Journal-Sun she again wanted to convey her thanks for supporting local businesses including hers.
