Under the Big Tent Festival
On Saturday, July 13, Bay Shore’s Under the Big Tent Festival had a successful post-pandemic return on the grounds of Bay Shore’s First Baptist Church. A handful of activities were available for children- birdhouse painting, a bouncy house and even free ice cream! The dance floor was home to a variety of showcases throughout the day. The Island Symphony Orchestra filled the tent with the sweet sounds of Mozart- dogs and kids were even invited to participate! Later in the day, Long Island Soul Sliders East took to the dance floor, teaching participants a line dance! Attendees were pleased with the return of this endearing event.

RJ Gordon is the son of Jason Gordon, a professional golfer. He attended Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California, in his first three years of high school before transferring to West Ranch High School in Stevenson Ranch, California, in his senior year. He lettered twice at Notre Dame and in his one year at West Ranch. His senior year got cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but he had a junior season, helping lead Notre Dame to a Mission League championship and a berth in the 2019 CIF Southern Division 1 Tournament by hitting .298//.459/.385 with two doubles, one home run, and three stolen bases.

Services for the UnderServed and Bronx Pro Group recently celebrated the groundbreaking for phase two of Starhill, an affordable housing project at 1600 Grand Avenue in Morris Heights, The Bronx. The project will add 244 affordable apartments to the property, with 74 of which designated as supportive housing for formerly homeless individuals and families. On-site supportive care services will be provided by Services for the UnderServed. The project was designed by Marvel Architects.

The NYPD is asking for the public’s help locating a 69-year-old man reported missing on Sunday, July 21, who lives in Wakefield. Police said that Maximino J Ruiz, of 4453 White Plains Road in The Bronx was last seen on Sunday, July 21, at approximately 6 a.m. at 600 East 233rd Street in The Bronx.
