Southern New Mexico Fire Departments Sign Pivotal Automatic Aid Agreement for Enhanced Emergency Response
Southern New Mexico residents can expect faster, more coordinated responses to fires and other emergencies thanks to a new Automatic Aid Agreement signed by several fire departments in the region. The concert, drawn up between Doña Ana County and the New Mexico State University Fire Department, the City of Sunland Park, the City of Las Cruces, the NASA/White Sands Test Facility, and the Town of Mesilla, will facilitate quicker dispatch of resources across jurisdictional lines when emergencies strike. According to the City of Las Cruces, the deal was inked on Aug. 27 and is seen as a major move to bolster public safety and readiness in the region.
